Adventures with AI Generated Art

The recent explosion of generative AI models has led to a lot of fun interactions between humans and computers. Here I document some of my experiences with models like DALL·E and ChatGPT.

DALL·E gave me a travel poster for a fictional place. I asked ChatGPT to give me travel advice for a visit.
City Park at Night
For this image, I wanted something evocative. I’d been inspired by the numerous example images of astronauts to create an image set in space. I also wanted to see how well DALL·E could interpret clear prompts for specific items, even when the descriptions of those items is somewhat vague. What distinguishes a city park from any other? I don’t know. But the resulting image better be a city park!

This was one of my earliest interactions with DALL·E. I was looking for genres of art which fitted the square canvas, hence the choice of album cover art. To make things as abstract as I could, I chose a prog rock concept album specifically. I was curious as to how the model would depict mathematical concepts (in particular, are any mathematical diagrams part of the training data?). Specifying that the album was by the Beastie Boys made things even less plausible.
